The Center for Geographic Information Science (GISc) is a research, education and outreach entity using GISc to analyze issues related to human and natural phenomenon. The Center works with both government agencies and private businesses, implementing GIS solutions to spatial problems. The goal is to realize creative and new applications.

Since the Center began in 2006, it has handled contracts relating to a wide variety of problems, including communications and public safety, medical patient mapping, site selection, and geodatabase creation and management.  Clients of the Center enjoy the benefit of access to the diversity of resources available through the geography department and the University.
